eBay Fenton12" HAT w/Feathers * Bows - RUBY Circa 2005Sold through the Fenton GIFT SHOP ONLYON SALE REGULAR PRICE WAS $550.00 This is about a rare a piece as you will ever see with Fenton. Even as a dealer back in 2005, I didn't know that this had even been done. It was pretty quiet selling on Fenton's part, but they were getting ready for their 100th year of being in business, so there was a lot of SPECIAL items that were being made just for that summer. Now that I look back on it, I find that Fenton did put it on their web site, but they never said how many they made (or had Dave Fetty make, I should say). It was made in the factory with Fenton factory glass and ovens, etc. but Dave Fetty was a special OFF HAND maker of these type of special glass idea. This is one of those pieces that was made OFF-HAND by Dave Fetty. It wasn't too long after this, Dave retired but still did some work here and there after he retired. You know, it's hard for an elderly person like us to just lay down and die, so we keep busy doing what we love. And Dave really loved his works of art. This Hat is a little less than 12 inches wide. YES, it is a large piece of glass and the weight is about 3 pounds or so. It is also about 4-1/2 inches tall with Dave Fetty's makers tool stamp on the very top of the hat. Also, I want to let you know that Dave used what is called CONTROL BUBBLE DESIGN in the glass. I have a picture of it showing bubbles created on purpose throughout the glass that are all in a straight or nearly straight line. Very difficult to do. There is also a 2005 Fenton sticker on the brim of the hat. This piece is all off-hand meaning that there was no mould used to create this. He started from scratch and worked molten glass into this wonderful design all by hand. So the one pictured IS the one you will receive. There are no chips, cracks or repairs but has been previously owned and displayed. No original box for this item, sorry!!! We do not clean glass and will leave that up to you if you think it is necessary, however with that said, except for my finger prints, it appears to be fairly clean. Flaws might exist but I didn't see any that stuck out at me.
